To break up the otherwise uneventful account of the cross-country trek, Rosenfelt includes detailed profiles of his dogs, many of which are unintentionally morbid. The author also misses the opportunity to expand on his former career as a movie marketing executive he disparagingly mentions his Hollywood days, but the stories are some of the most compelling in the book, including his work on the Short Circuit sequel and helping Charlton Heston adopt a chow mix. However, Rosenfelt does not approach planning the journey with a positive frame of mind and complains throughout the trip. When they decided to relocate to a larger, more dog-friendly environment in rural Maine, the couple transported their dogs in three motor homes. This hobby gradually escalated into "dog lunacy" as the number of rescues they took into their home grew to double digits. David Rosenfelts Dogtripping is moving and funny account of a cross-country move from California. In addition to writing the Andy Carpenter mystery series, Rosenfelt and his wife, Debbie, share a passion for rescuing dogs from animal shelters. Scott Coatsworth![]() He has always been in the place between the here and now and the what could be. He'd remake them to his own ends, and if he was lucky enough, Scott lives with his husband in a leafy Sacramento, California suburb, in a cute yellow house with a pair of pink flamingoes in the front yard. If there weren't gay characters in his favorite genres, he would reimagine them, filling them with a diverse universe of characters. When Scott came out at 23, he decided he wanted to create the kinds of stories he couldn't find at the bookstore. But as he read the golden age classics and more modern works too, he started to wonder where all the queer people were. He started reading science fiction and fantasy at the tender age of nine, encouraged by his mother. This book is going to hinge on how much you like and understand Cassie, and Barnes gives us exactly what we need to really get behind her. Pulling from elements of the books and the Kubrick adaptation, this is something of a complicated beast trying to reconcile the bunch. It's a shame this failed at the box office, but I suspect it had to do with the negative hype surrounding IT Chapter 2. This has the tone of The Shining and the quality, but since I watched The Shining first, it's hard to say this is on the same level. I will re-watch the film in a few years and re-access my initial review. I haven't rewarded it with the 5 star rating as The Shining wasn't an initial 5 star rating for me. The version I watched was the DC 1080 cut and I will say it's an incredible film. The filmmaker stays respectful to both King and Kubrick which wouldn't have been an easy feat considering King's dislike for Kubrick's film. Most sequels would revisit The Overlook with a new family, but not Stephen King. ![]() The book was good as it pushed past the closed doors of the original and managed to stay relevant.
